Luis Valdes is a creative and courageous shining light who inspires everyone he meets. A hard worker and student Luis, became a member this fall of the Kappa English Honor Society at Suffolk Community college.   As a recipient of the Hope House Ministries writer’s scholarship and poet, Luis knows the value of having a positive outlet to express everyday life challenges. You can find Luis at open mic nights at the Muse Collective or as a volunteer at Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson, NY  where he continues to assist men struggling with past incarceration and drug addictions. Luis started a creative workshop at Hope House ministries to help men deal with their challenges through writing and spoken word. Today E2LI honors Luis as an empowering agent of change.
